Or rather, I'd like to see a system similar to the board game 'Dungeon Alliance': in that game, each hero adds three hero-specific cards to the deck and the rest is yours to choose: a tag system determines whether a particular hero can play a card or not. I would prefer if you didn't have to include exactly 8 cards from each hero. If I had to mention on criticism, it would be that the deck-building is a bit too restricted. The only game I enjoyed as much was 'Abe's Oddyssey', back then.Īnd in 'Quest' integrating the deck-builder combat in a RPG / adventure game works really well. I've played plenty of metroidvania / platformer games in the last couple of years, but Dig is still my favorite. ![]() I love that they share a common setting despite being from two totally different genres. Both games are highly polished and just plain fun. I haven't played Heist, yet, but based on my experience with Dig and Quest, I have to agree. Here's to hoping more fun games to explore the SteamWorld it to come! That being sad I'll look forward to replay the game in newgame+ mode and extra challenge difficulty some time down the road. Imo a mechanic like in Slay the Spire where you get to decide between multiple cards to add your deck periodically is more interesting. The crafting and shop system also seem a bit tacked or or at least not really fleshed out. That's sad because it's easy to imagine expand what's already there to actually be interesting and tell a story that the player will remember. The archetypical villain's motivation really doesn't make any sense whatsover. ![]() My biggest gripe with this game is that the story is so cliché. It's a bit like the Mario or Zelda series feature generally solid games. I'd go so far as to consider the series "safe" now meaning when a new game comes out and I have the time I'll probably trust that it's good and purchase it without in depth review reading or research. They are all situated in the same fictional universe, bound together by the art style whilst exploring different genres. Quirky humor, fantastic art & sound, solid gameplay and interfaces, not a single major bug or crash. I've played from the SteamWorld series now: Dig, Heist, QuestĪll 3 were well crafted and fun games.
